

The processor has a safety shut down at 100C. The only thing we have to go by are comparisons of other iMacs and the possibility of looking up individual component manufacture specs like for the hard drive and CPU. No one really knows what temps are considered normal or excessive as Apple does not provide this kind of information. Besides it's a Mac and up until Apple switched to Intel we didn't even had the ability to monitor hardware temps. Mind you, these are "idle" temps.įirst of all if your machine is running ok and not shutting down then you don't have to worry so much.

You probably have to un-install this before you can run the SMCFanControl. The error message from SMCFanControl is because you have this widget installed. Hmm that must be more like 699, 1200, and 1200 as that should be the default speeds. I also have installed the "Fans" widget, showing the 3 iMac fans numbers reading 6, 12 & 12 on the three.
